My first attempt to share my music online was with Artistopia.com. I was intrigued because I discovered an online world where independent musical artists cultivate their careers. Artistopia gives indie artists many of the tools they needed to market themselves. They offer two types of accounts: a free account which includes two free songs uploads or a professional account which has a one time fee of $99 and unlimited song uploads.

Artistopia is a great online community for those who are more established because it allows artists to showcase their music. However, I felt as a newbie, that I wasn’t ready for this site just yet. What I was hoping to receive from Artistopia was a place to workshop my music and get feedback. Instead, I felt I was spending more of my time making alliances with popular artists just to increase my ranking. I will continue to have my music here, but until I am more developed, I will not engage myself too much on Artistopia.

I would like to reiterate that I think this is an excellent website and I would suggest anyone who is at an intermediate or advanced level in artist development to give it a try.
