Leadership for my community project

I posted earlier about a community project that I am working on that will provide free music lessons for disadvantaged kids. So far I have a solid plan and I have talked with my high school jazz band director about playing a key role in the project. We haven’t ironed out all of the details, but he at least knows that I am interested in him being apart of this. I still have a long way to go to making this a reality, but I am planning on matching up the mentors and the kids by no later than June. I will keep everyone posted.

NYU Scoring Workshop

I had planned to audit the 2008 NYU ASCAP Scoring Workshop in May, but it started to look like I wasn’t going to be able to make it. There were so many things that in my way, such as getting days off of work, finding money for housing, etc. Well, things are looking up and it looks like I will have both the time and the money to do this. I am really excited. This is something that I said that I would do, I like keeping my word.

It will be great to be back at my alma mater, if just for one week. But most of all, I feel like I am going to learn a lot and meet a lot of composers that I can network with. I’ll post all about it once I attend.
